745: Carl Vialpando’s 1959 Willys CJ-5
Here are some pictures of what was once my fathers 1959 Willys CJ-5. My father gave it to me before passing and I told him I would get it running again. I have since been very diligent in my endeavor. It has progressed beyond what is seen in this photo. I have begun my journey towards a frame up restoration. My garage is now filled with a variety of parts decorating almost every inch of my work space. I will persevere. I hope to have a completed version in the near future.

Carl, Your project is looking good. If you get the rest looking as good as the seats you’ll have a fine machine. The hard top looked like it came off a mail Jeep. My 1959 DJ 3A had a top like that. I knew you were from Colorado when I saw your last name. I live in Arvada, but am from Southern Colorado. I have a friend in Arvada named Joe Vialpondo, he is originally from San Luis, CO.
Yes sir, I believe the cab was an option in this year. Also the mail jeep cabs had sliding doors these are hinged. Yes have distant family in that area and in southern Colorado where I originally came from. Family has been in that area for close two a couple hundred years.
Parabéns pelo lindo projeto. Seu pai, onde estiver, certamente vai ficar muito contente em ver o carinho e empenho nessa restauração. Tenho um cj5 1979 fabricado no Brasil que foi do meu falciido irmão
Um abraço
