This truck literally is a ‘father-son’ project, as it’s being used to complete Dad’s 1959 wagon, after we gave up on that body, and the frame on this one! A lot of extra work, as the cab was layered with 5 or 6 coats of paint, some thick undercoating almost everywhere, and every bolt rusted solid. But some quick work with a hotwrench, right at the scrapyard, and some surgical work on the cab, and it was ready for the blast booth, where the ’59 body disappeared, last year! The ’49 sheet metal is certainly a lot thicker, and had been preserved well. Anyone recognize this old timer? I found it in Algonquin Illinois, real close to me, after looking all over for a donor body. Just remember to not give up, and keep scraping, even if it hurts!
