My 1953 Willys CJ3-B was a roadside find off of America’s Loneliest Highway, Highway 50, in Dayton, Nevada. More than likely it spent its life as a farm utility vehicle on a nearby desert ranch. When I first can across the Willys it sat in three piles; a body and frame, engine, and axles. It looked as if someone had started to restore or preserve it, as all the parts and the body had been painted in primer. After acquiring my Willys CJ3-B it underwent complete restoration to bring it back to its 1953 originality. Now that its finished I look forward to showing it in Reno’s Hot August Nights event. Hot August Nights is the largest classic car and nostalgia event in the United States with venues spread across the Reno, Sparks and Lake Tahoe areas. Growing up around the Reno area Hot August Nights has been going on since I could remember. This car show has inspired me to restore a collector car, which eventually became my 1953 Willys CJ3-B.
