My father bought this 1952 Willys M38 in 1963 when they were bringing the junk back from the Korean War. He had it running for about 30 more years until something went wrong and he couldn’t fix it. He left it in a garage for over 38 years until he passed away two years ago. The Jeep was totally destroyed for being in a garage for that period of time. After his death I decided to honor my father and restored the Jeep to its original shape. So, with the help of you guys at Kaiser Willys I restored it to perfection. Everything that you see is original and 100% working. If my father would have seen this restoration I believed he would have came out ok from his fatal illness. 24 volts, amphibian, mechanical winch (original), and generator.

Thanks Bro for honoring our father, El Rey de Reyes! I love you and I’m thankful for our family! This jeep means so much to me and brings so many fun memories…
Love the history and the family story you shared. This is probably the best jeep restoration that I have seen !!! My M38 is jealous.
It’s been a long time since I saw a Koenig open face clutch winch, but they worked just the same. Just do not use 80w90 APG for worm gear drives. 140# steam cylinder oil has much higher viscosity for the twisting-sliding action under high pressure. That information comes right from the oil companies themselves.
realmente me gusto; tanto la historia como el jeep ! GRAN TRABAJO…
A very, very nice job. It doesn’t look like you cut many corners to get it done right!
Great job. I too restored a M38. Not quite to that extent. Mine is now a Coast Guard Jeep. Kaiser Willys was also a great help to me. My Jeep is named Maybell after my grandmother. She was a wife to a soldier of the Great War and mother to four veterans of WWII. What a treasure to have in your family.
Wow, great job! I’ve restored two M38’s but never to this extent. Can’t wait to do another one. Challenged!
What a great and honorable thing your did for your dad. He would have been very proud of you. For doing a wonderful job. Your would and is very proud of you and the great job you done on his Jeep
