The Willys Overland Jeepster in the photo, taken on the Chesapeake Bay shore of the Virginia Peninsula is a family heirloom. It was purchased new in 1949 by my Grandfather in Connecticut.
The car passed from him to my aunt who used it for a few years as a daily driver. She could not maintain it so she gave it to her daughter in Tampa where it was garaged for 20+ years awaiting restoration. That became too great of a chore for her and it was passed to me. A neighbor “car-nut” and accomplished mechanic who was also my husband’s flight instructor graciously offered to make her road-worthy, especially since he was born in the same year and in Toledo, OH too! It was mechanically a mess from sitting in an unconditioned garage for two plus decades.
The replacements included pistons, rings, fuel tank, pump and gauge sending unit, water pump, most wiring, tires, exhaust system, and hoses. She was repainted many years ago and the interior as well as convertible top are original we believe.

Wonderful story about the Jeepster being a member of the same family since new! I notice that the windshield sticker is the logo of our WILLYS OVERLAND JEEPSTER CLUB!
It would appear that someone on the family tree was a WOJC member!
I would like to reach out to Ms. Drane to invite her to become a member of the club.
