Gordy Santeford

It took me a year to get it where it is today. Working on it daily as my retirement project. Body off frame, rebuilt transmission, transfer case. Body was completely stripped of paint, dents, rust and wear. There was no interior from head to toe. Seats are now full leather bench seat. Put in a 250 inline 6 chevy motor. Runs and drives like a new 56 Willys. It is my daily driver! I love my Willys. Found in New Mexico on a farm. It had never been licensed and never been road driven. Used only as a farm truck!

  1. I’ve got one I’m working on with the hurricane 4 cyl, I haven’t started it yet and was wondering how difficult it was to Mate up that chevy engine to the existing transmission…

  3. I really like the look of this 1956 Willy’s truck. I don’t know much about these willy’s; some of the grills seem different across the model years. What models had the vertical grills as this one has? Where would be a good place to find one of these? Thanks Josiah

  5. Great looking Willys, Gordy. Working on a 48 for 1-1/2 years now & not quite ready for paint but may I ask what flavor is yours? Do you have the same axles? Can you send a picture of the view of the right front with the right side? I may be missing something. Also, are you using a same size spare on the drivers side? Call me fi necessary, I’m in West Columbia. Thanks, John 803-917-5986 c
