I love my 1962 Willys Pick Up for many reasons. First and foremost it was a father and son off the frame restoration project. The Willys had a 226 Hurricane in line 6 cycliner engine. The wood was on the Willys when I purchased it. The body looked pretty good. This project was challenging, fun and a learning experience for me. After driving the Willys for several years, we noticed the frame was very rusted, and the engine was leaking oil. We decided that an off the frame restoration was needed. We made two major modifications. A frame from a 1980 J-10 was purchased and a 1980 AMC 360cc V-8 automatic engine. This frame was 18 inches longer than we needed so we shortened the frame. The engine needed to be rebuilt before placing in the Willys. The Willys is back on the road and receives many thumbs up as I drive around and when parked the car guys stop, look and ask questions. But most of all, my son and I have great memories of working side by side.
