This is a 1963 CJ-3B Proto type, it came from the factory with the flip out windshield which they only made a handfull of before they started selling the windshield bolt-on kits. It is all original and still has the 134 hurricane in it, T90 Trans, Dana 18 Transfer, still has the drum brakes and it runs perfect. We found this CJ-3B in an old barn covered over. After talking for awhile we finally talked the owner into selling. He said that it has been sitting out there for years and it won’t crank, I said that’s fine and we were off on our way to a never ending journey. It took us a long time to come up with the funds to restore this CJ-3B because we have 3 boys and a little princess who are in high demand. After about a year of driving it around using switches to keep it running we tore it down to nothing and thanks to Kaiser Willys Jeep Supply were able to completely restore the Jeep. It is still all original and runs even better, we take it to all the shows and parades around our community everywhere it goes people turn their heads. It feels good to have brought a piece of our past back to life, I painted it with the military look and although a lot of people do I have made a few changes on mine. The lettering on the hood is actually my birthday and first and last initial on the other side is my wife’s and on the front bumper we have our anniversary on one side the other is the year we restored it so it looks millitary but is actully meaningful. After we got the Jeep fever we bought our oldest boy a CJ-5 81 model and restored it for his 16th birthday. He learned how to drive a stick in his first Jeep and claimed to pass the fever on to my 4 year old daughter as well. She has already said when she gets bigger she wants a pink Jeep with big tires. Well I’m already on the hunt for one. I am sharing before and after photos of the two we have done I hope you guys like them and enjoy seeing them as much as I do thanks Kaiser Willys for all the help and inspiration.

Looking for, Willys Jeep Parts, Willys Jeep replacement parts, Willys Jeep body parts and much more for your 1941-1971 Willys vehicle, you have come to the right place!
The militarized CJ3Bs are M606s. The militarized CJ3A is a M38. That does not appear to be a M606, but it is nice.
As I explained to the representative from Kaiser Willys, I’m,relatively new to the MVP program and have a lot to learn. The M38A1 that I have came from a yard sale and was running when I got it. Unfortunately, it had to take a much lessor priority on my list of things to do. From then until now it has just sat in the garage gathering dust. I finally subscribed to Military Magazine and from there I’ve tried to build a library of every publication I could find pertaining to my “Old Lady”. All that having been said, hopefully, this summer will find me and my Grandson hard at work on his (?) jeep.
Very nice Jeeps, both of them! My 1966 CJ-5 will be out of the restoration shop soon. I got a little help from Kaiser Willys too. I am keeping my CJ as near stock as possible. I like them that way. Being eager to get my CJ out of the shop I bought a 97 TJ to drive around town. It is fun too. Everyone needs one restored Jeep to look at and one to drive! Good luck with your Jeeps!
Dear Sir,
If you look into military vehicle books the army did get some militarized CJ-3B’s designated M-38. They were not very common and in my 6 yrs of arngus I never saw one, but they did exist. It lookls like a wonderful restoration job.
Some psarts would also be availble from Willys of Minneapolis of Minnesota.
Sincerely,
Dave
I’ve got a ’55 ‘3B that is a trail Willys. The only thing original is the tub and transfer case. Small block Chev, Dana 44’s, Swampers, disc brakes, cage, etc etc etc. It’d be nice to see a nice, clean all original high hood.
