Bruce King

This CJ-3B has been in my family since 1962. I have some cool old pictures when I was 10 years old in it. I drove it in High School. It’s part of the family. My Dad was an old hot rodder from so. California and put a chevy v8 in it about 6 months after he bought it. He bought it from an insurance co. after it got stolen. I believe it had 900 miles on it. Just not enough power for may Dad. My 2 Uncles also had early CJ’s and we spent many days wheeling in the Sierra’s when there were no rules on where you could go. So we went all over looking for the most remote places. I took ownership of the Jeep in the early 80’s where it lived at the Colorado River. The Jeep was there for 18 years. When we sold the river house we brought her home and I decided to give her a face lift. New 350/375 HP, Muncie m21 gear box, Camaro steering, Disc brakes ect. The half doors my Dad fabricated some years ago. It will be passed down and hopefully stay in the family for many more generations.

  3. Bruce;

    i am new to the Jeep scene. I am purchasing an old 1959 Willy’s Jeep, and I take it, it will be just like yours in body style. From my brief exposure to Jeeps, yours is exceptional! The Jeep I am buying has no motor in it, but someone at sometime put a small block Chevy in it. I am planning on doing a ground up restoration to it, and putting a Chevy 350 in it, but I would like to put a Turbo 350 in it also. What advice do you have for a new comer like me with putting a V-8 in an old Jeep. And also I do like the color you painted yours, what it is?

    Feel free to call if you desire, i live in Prescott Valley, Arizona. 623 308-9449.

    Thanks
