This 1948 Willys was my first car. I convinced my dad to buy the piece of junk for me when I was 13. It didn’t run, body was shot. I have completely rebuilt the entire jeep. Every paycheck and ounce of spare time went into it in high school. Kept me out of a lot of trouble. Every bearing, seal, brake pad, clutch etc. has been replaced. I fixed the rust before there were after market replacement pieces. Kaiser Willys sure makes it easy to repair now. I did most of the work before there was an internet. Parts were way harder to find back then. I recently found this Vintage Warn winch at a garage sale. I built the mount to set down in the frame rails. We saw the Willys in a pasture of his grade school teacher in the hills in Western Nebraska (1981). Turns out it used to carry my dad to grade school on snowy days back then. It had been painted many different colors with house paint over the years. I promised my dad I would keep it original. It’s close to original. Change the wheels and bumper and it’s back to original. I have had the Jeep for more than 30 years. My grandson loves to go for rides in it. I almost have another generation hooked on old Willys Jeeps.
