I’ve wanted an ‘Army Jeep’ since I was around 9 yrs old. Every time my Mom would even HINT she was thinking about getting a different car, the 1st question out of my face was; “Can we get a Jeep?” The answer was of course always ‘no’ since Mom had no interest in driving a ‘stick’. SO.. I eventually gave up on the idea.. UNTIL I found this Jeep on its way to the scrapyard. The guy had taken it in trade for work he had done for the owner and no interest in restoring it. I just COULDN’T let it happen. I scrounged the cash from everywhere I could, called in ALL my favors, and bought it. It had very little rust issues and was mostly complete but EVERYTHING needs to be rebuilt. I have since purchased new front Springs and reinstalled a replacement front Axle (the original had a broken housing) and I bought an original 1942 MB style grille. My plans call for it to look like a WWII MB. I have a shoe string budget but I intend to DRIVE this Jeep down the highway at least ONCE before I die. I hope to make it many more than that.
