New Replacement Master Clutch Kit for 9-1/4″ – Part#: 921977KM
Q: Can the 9 1/4″ hd clutch be used regardlessly? My service manual is listing it as an option. I wish to order the correct one before tear down if possible?
- A: No, they are not interchangeable. You need to make sure to match it up.
Q: Is there a master clutch kit for the 225 dauntless V6 – 1968 CJ-5?
- A: Please call us toll free. We are more than happy to help out.
Q: I have a ’65 CJ-5A Jeep with an F or L Head 4 cylinder engine. Will the product work for what I need it for?
- A: You have the F head engine. As long as you are 9.25″ diameter it is correct.
Q: I have a 1955 Willys Wagon Super Hurricane flat head 6 cyl, I need a clutch kit. Will any of these work?
Q: How do I know for sure that this will fit my 65 CJ-5?
- A: Just measure the diameter of your friction disc to double check.
Q: What size is the spline on the friction disk? The input on the transmission I have is 1.125/10 spline.
- A: I will double check but I believe that is what it is. It is for the 4-134 engine with T90 transmission.
Q: Can this kit be swapped out for the standard 8.5 inch disc and pressure plate, or does the flywheel holes not line up?
- A: If you have 8.5″ you have to stick with it. If you have the 9.25″ you have to stick with it. The kits are not interchangeable.
Q: Can this be fitted to the 134 standard flywheel by drilling and tapping the flywheel, then rebalancing the assembly? I realize that the clutch rod and/or clutch shaft may have to be changed…
- A: If you have a 8.5″ diameter clutch then you need to stick with that. If you have the 9.25″ diameter one then thats the one you should go with. Its best to measure.
Q: I come up with 9 1/8, is this the one for my 65 CJ-5? It’s not 8 1/2, what is up?
- A: Willys CJ-5’s used either a 8.5″ or 9.25″ friction disc in later years. You may be measuring the friction disc which can wear on the edges after decades of abuse. You may want to measure the steel pressure plate instead and you should come up right at 9.25″.
Q: My 61 CJ-6 has this 9 1/4″ clutch on it. So I will order this one, I was just wondering what the “Heavy Duty Option” is on the 4-134 engine. If this clutch is the indication of that option, what does that mean?
- A: Its just means that it has the 9.25″ diameter clutch verses the more common 8.5″ clutch.
