My Willys M38A1 Jeep journey started in 2011. When I was 10 and my Grandpa gave me his M38A1. Little did I know, it has become at least for the last decade has become one of the things that I love the most. In 2018 my Grandpa died and I decided it was time to pull the whole thing apart and restore it to original, as those were the conditions of it becoming mine. Two years later and with some help it was finished. Now I’m working on my 2nd Jeep, a 1948 CJ-2A that my Great Uncle bought in 1966. Now I’m 21 and the Jeep addiction has got me, most likely for life. Which is fine as long as there are places like Kaiser Willys having parts.

Dave. I am in Huron and have 52 m38a1. Would love to talk to you about the restoration process. Just started mine.
Beautiful restoration, it looks great. I am just in the beginning of restoring a 1951 M38 and excited to see other peoples’ finished projects to get me excited for the process. I commanded a field artillery battery in Korea and will deck it out with my 2/17 FA and 2nd Infantry Division stuff.
Great Willys and great photos, too. Calendar worthy!
Great job, that jeep and trailer look sweet. Plus being from grandpa! I am the proud owner of a 1946 cj2a along with a 1947 bantam trailer, both are civilian models. Without Kaiser Willy’s neither would be possible. Enjoy your new addiction and get use to it, your toast like the rest of us! And remember to pass it on to the next generation, we need to keep these old Willy’s on the road.
Rachel, I would love to see how the 1948 CJ-2A turns out. I have my grandfathers 48′ CJ-2A, which was passed down to me from my father. I am just starting to really work on it. It does run, but it is rough. I would love to hear your advice.

Old Jeeps tend to be a bit of glue that binds families and generations together.
In a world where those ties seem to be disintegrating – good on you for keeping it going.
“It’s a Jeep Thing”
What a nice looking jeep! I’m working on a 1952 M38A1. I hope it comes out as nice as yours!
I’ve had the jeep bug for 50 years now! LOL! Probably the nicest hobby out there that a whole
family can enjoy! Keep up the good work and enjoy! —Dave Hollingsworth in New London,Ohio
