Ronald Reagan’s 1962 CJ-6 Jeep has made the journey from his ranch in the Santa Ynez Mountains to Washington DC and was displayed in the Cars at the Capital event in April, 2016. The CJ-6 has been added to the National Register of Historic Vehicles along with President William Howard Taft’s 1909 White Model M 40 hp Steamer. Ronald Reagan’s CJ-6 was his favorite vehicle when he visited his 688 acre Rancho del Cielo. Reagan also owned a blue 1981 CJ-8 Golden Eagle which his wife bought him due to disliking the well used CJ-6. To read more about Reagan’s CJ-6 and Tafts Steamer Car visit the historicvehicle.org.

Hi folks,
Due to “pilot error”, (literally, in my case) my earlier comment was meant to end with…. “Reagan’s administration”. Mr. Reagan and I were friends and I miss him, dearly. As I sit, enjoying this gorgeous Summer afternoon, looking at my 1948 CJ2A, a.k.a. my “daily driver”, I reflect on the times Mr. Reagan and I took her to go fishing and camping, when he was in “my neck of the woods”. I came back to clarify my comment, for MY own peace of mind and, of course, read the most recent comment. It never ceases to amaze me how quick some people are, when confronted with an opinion that may differ from theirs, will resort to insults and name calling. I am living proof that people can, and do, be respectful with others of different political mindsets. I spent 46 proud years in the Military. After college, 4+ years, at the start of my career, were spent in Vietnam (Jeep rich environment). I was married (may God Rest Her Soul) in 1982. My Best Man was a concientious objector to the war and is still one of my most cherished friends. We spoke, for years, at school events and on Veteran’s Day, etc. to show that we, as friends, as well as a Nation, can disagree and that MOST of us can remain civil. Why is there so much gut wrenching, visceral hate? Ignorance and intolerance! Mr. Reagan was a goog man. President Obama reintroduced several of President Reagan’s initiatives and ideals and our polarized Congress rejected them, out of hand! Nobody cares who would trade how many whos for how many whoms! If we are not part of the solution we are part of the problem! Hate and name calling,,, wasn’t that a tactic that failed… even back in the 6th grade? “Pinko”, seriously? Time to hop in the Willys,, a natural progression would suggest that I be, ummm, called.. disingenuous!? lol… be well everybody, God Bless!
Despite a couple of negative comments from the el pinko gallery, Mr Reagan did a lot to stem the tide of leftist “BIG GUB’MINT” crap. No one can be 100% right 100% of the time, either. Not perfect as we all aren’t, but an American hero, a genuinely decent man AND President. I wouldn’t trade Ron Reagan for 20 Clintons, 20 “Billary’s “, or 20 “Osama Bin OBUMMER’S”. Glad to know he was a fellow “jeep” guy, too!
The President and the Willys
So very fitting – any more great pics please
We had another Reagan running in this election, but the majority of the Tea Party rejected him for a guy that nobody knows if will stick to the conservative claims that he has made.
The BEST driving one of the BEST! Thanks for sharing these pictures with us, I’ll print them and hang them up in the classroom!
Now the 1940 Ford PYGMY will have a “buddy” that it can relate to. Nice to see it “trickle down” to the HVA and the ONLY positive contribution to stem from Reagan.
A true American, with a true American Jeep. Just that simple.
The CJ-6, warn hubs and a power take off winch the best of the era, and yet better than what is available today. Power take off never stops working. I know because I had one.

Ronald Reagan was an American Hero. He was the kind of leader that we so need today and do not have.
Where have all the good Presidents gone. Got any photos of the 81?
