Kaiser Jeep FC-150AM 1960 model. Prototype made on heavy duty Jeep Chassis for military purpose. The Jeep has T-98 gearbox and Dana 44 front and rear. It has leaf springs and axle width like the FC-170, but the frame has the measures form the FC-150. The chassis is only made in 5 ex this year.

When I found this jeep, it was just a wreck in a coffee farm at Castañer (Lares, Puerto Rico). This is a mix of 1946 CJ2-A with 1942 MB & GPW. I spent about two years working in this vehicle (starting in april 2010). There are some many details that I have to correct, but now I’m close to finish. According to the last owner, this vehicle was fixed in the mid 60’s using original military parts from another wreck founded in Ramey Air Force Base (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico). For example, the front axle shaft was marked with “F” (FORD), and is a rare ‘Rzeppa’ model. Also manifold, bolts, pedals, ect., were marked with “F”. The carburetor is a Carter 536 S (1941-1945) and works perfect. The engine is a willy’s overland L134 mounted over a CJ-2 ‘chassis’. Some replacements were used to complete my restoration. I’m still looking for a DANA 27 rear axle and a T-84 Transmission to finish the job, but right now this jeep has a perfect running. Numbers, marks and colors were selected to commemorate the LRDG and the 880 Ethiopian Commonwealth Group (North Africa,WWII). Some historical references were used for the paint job. For me, this is not only an old MB jeep, it’s also a great time machine. Thanks to the people of ‘Kaiser Willys’.

Our 17 year old daughter wanted a jeep to bum around in and take to the beach. We live in Florida. Last year around this time my husband found this jeep for sale from some swamp rats and brought it home on a trailer. He had a vision, however, my daughter and I thought he had lost his mind. This jeep was a wreck! His camera which had the original picture was stolen so the picture of it torn down is the earliest photo I could find. He thought he would have the jeep done for her for her birthday in May. It took a little longer than he thought. With a lot of hard work and many nights in his shop he and his friends rebuilt the Willys. It was completed for our daughter for Christmas this year!

Would anyone have a digital photo you could share of an early mountain jeep road scene shortly after WWII with a military surplus jeep, and early Jeep Willys or some other early off-road vehicles?
I’m the graphic designer for 15 wayside kiosks for the Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway in Chaffee County, Colorado. In a historic panel about mountain recreation, we mention the beginning of 4-wheeling and would like a photo from the early days. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to find an appropriate photo of this in any of the usual photo archives. Would any of you have anything we could use?
Thank you, Kathy McCoy
