451: John Moore’s 1953 Willys Truck
My Willys has the original F-134 engine, it’s never been rebuilt. It is still a 6 volt system and it has the vacuum windshield wipers. All of the gauges work. It starts every time you turn the key. Sweet! This is truly the truck I never knew I always wanted and it has been named “Eugene”.

Looking for, Willys Jeep Parts, Willys Jeep replacement parts, Willys Jeep body parts and much more for your 1941-1971 Willys vehicle, you have come to the right place!
Millions of Jeeps started with 6-volt systems all over the world in Arctic cold and desert hot conditions. The key to a 6-volt system is good cables, good grounds and a good starter (good brushes and a good commutator).
The only real drawback are the candle like headlights, but they let people see us and we aren’t going so fast that we can’t for stop what we can see…..
Very nice truck!
You are a lucky man, Mr. Moore.
There is nothing wrong with the 6 volt system as long as the engine has the proper ground underneath the generator. the OHV 4 was a very strong engine with a forged crankshaft. My dad had one he bored .060 oversize and planed the head .075, and it would keep up with my V-6. Yours is a beautiful find take care of it.

John, Still 6 Volts?? Original engine?? You and I are in tune there!! LOL Your vehicle is beautiful and still stock and that is quite a feat. When I was three in 1946 I was with my parents when they bought a CJ-2A which I still have and in the summer drive around Town and such. It remains a work vehicle and just this morning I pulled out some old shrubs for a neighbor. My Papa was a country doctor in south Missouri in the 40’s and some of the roads didn’t even have gravel on them and he was thrilled to get our Jeep. My dogs and I ride around in the Jeep and the top is removed for the summer and the windshield is flat on the hood and they love it. Lots of people inquire and you’ll understand that the most fascinating thing to anyone under 65 is the vacuum wiper!!
Congrats on such a great vehicle. If you ever make it to Idaho Falls drop by.
