These are pictures of my 2 CJ-3B Willys. The red one is a 1954 that I got when I was 15. I attached some pictures of the restoration process, and a recent one. The car is in Bogota, Colombia (South America); I used it through my last years of high school and college. After that I have been living in Pittsburgh PA, but with the help of family and friends I have been able to keep the car running. I drive it every time I go home, which I try to make it as often as possible. After so many years of living far from my red 3B I found the yellow 1953 CJ-3B here in Pittsburgh.
Chuck Curty did the entire restoration and was crazy enough to sell it to me. I can not take much credit for that but I am trying to keep it in the excellent shape he gave it to me. Colombia is a fascinating country with a unique Willys culture. For us these cars represent more than simple vehicles. They are pieces of our past and present culture, remembered by many because of their association with the coffee production, other agricultural uses, and simply as taxis that can take you everywhere.
For me is even more than that, it was my first car, my childhood, and the very basic fiber of my life. So many good memories that is impossible to summarize them in a few words. Having the opportunity of owning the yellow one here in the states has been fascinating, same feeling but in a completely different culture. I have been blessed with the opportunity of owning these two cars in two separate countries at the same time. It can not get better than this!
