These are some pictures of my 1961 Willy’s CJ5 Jeep. The Serial is 57548134623 and it was manufactured in July of 1961. When I brought it home in Dec. of 2010 it had 9279 miles. It belonged to Fire District 9 of Spokane, WA. from new to 1995 when it was sold at surplus. I bought it from the gentleman who purchased it at surplus and displayed it in his showroom of his Dodge dealership for 9 years. We live in Royal City, WA. and make our living producing hay for export, domestic dairy, feed stores and horses. We enjoy going for evening drives around the countryside and taking in the views that can only be found driving a convertible! I joke and tell people that this is my Therapy Jeep because it is much more fun to work on and drive than tractors and balers. The parts are less expensive too!

Bob Wieldraayer
Royal City, WA.

This is my 1959 Willys CJ5. I bought it a few years ago for $400. The Jeep has 18,017 Original Miles, Original Drive-train, it even had the Original Tires on it and with a little tinkering on the carb it runs very well. It spent its life on a cattle ranch, and was stored in the barn when not being used. I had planned on swapping the 134 F-Head engine for a 4 Cylinder John Deere Turbo Diesel, But after hearing from many people that I have a \"Diamond in the Rough\" I have since decided to fix it up back to its original beauty.

This 69 CJ6 hard top did not run for twenty years prior to my purchasing it. It had the original 4 cyl F head engine, three speed trany, Dana 18 transfer with 9,000 LB Ramsey PTO winch, Dana 44 rear and Dana 27A front diffs with 5.38 gears. It was first purchased by the Forest Service here in Laramie Wyoming. I am the third owner. Previous owner used it taking his family and friends fishing and hunting in the Snowy Range Mountains above Laramie.
The engine was seized, pistons rusted to the cylinder walls. Had engine completely rebuilt and fly wheel turned by Laramie Machine Shop. Replaced the heavy duty 9 ºî pressure plate, clutch disk, throw out bearing, fork, clutch cable, clutch and brake linkage with new clutch pedal. Several leaf springs were cracked, replaced all springs, shackles/bolts, bushings, u-bolts, shocks and rear brake lines along with front flex brake lines. New brake master cylinder. Steering new parts; sector, bearings and seals in gear box, drag link, bell crank, and drivers tie rod. Winch gone through, missing engagement handle only. New front drive shaft. Replacing all bolts with #8ís. Torn down to frame, had frame sand blasted, I Herculinered the frame.
I have the body to repair, there is some rust around the transmission cover and tool box area. One drivers side forward frame support and a little side body rust on the front. The seat frames are good but need recovered. Iím going to Herculine the interior in gray and have the body sandblasted and primer black it. Keep the top white.
I will use it to elk hunt in the fall, watch wildlife all summer, snow drift bust in the spring. I plan on getting it all together by spring to snow bust.
Needed items still yet to purchase. Steering wheel, brake wheel cylinders, wheels and tires (33" bias ply), seats reupholstered. PTO carrier bearing and u-joints. Front diff and transfer yokes to fit newer style drive line.
I will fabricate the rear bumper with swing out spare tire carrier and the front bumper using 3"x6" box beam. The spare tire swing hinge will be made from an old weight lifting bar bell.

Hi Mike. Attached please find a chronology of photos of the restoration of my 1966 CJ5. When I purchased the Jeep, I bought it from the original owner and it only has 38,000 miles on it. The restoration process took me just over a year. I hope you enjoy the photos! Thanks for all of your help in supplying the parts to complete the restoration and for answering the dozens of questions I had along the way.
Thanks,

Attached are some pics of my 1968 Kaiser CJ5 in military dress. When I bought it I was told that the paint was original military applied. Whatever the case the jeep was a nice yellow when it left Kaiser assembly line. I am including a few pics of my rebuilt engine using your parts. Thanks for the site and for your support to the KW Jeeps. - Charles
