This CJ-5 came to the family back in the late ‘80’s as a hunting vehicle. My Father-in-law used this vehicle to teach both of my kids how to drive a stick and enjoy the great outdoors. When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 he sold the Jeep to my brother who also used it for hunting and ranch work. He taught his son to drive a stick with. When it lost second gear, it was pulled into the barn where it sat for many years. The barn blew down breaking the Jeep’s windshield and it was relocated from the ranch to my brother’s place where it sat in the elements for over 15 years. I took possession of it in trade for electrical work done on my brother’s barn. I began working to restore the “Ranch Crawler” in 2017 a year before my retirement from law enforcement here in south central Texas.
