My father sanded (by hand with a sandpaper and a kind of iron brush) the whole chassis, then removed all the screws and put a mixture of caustic soda to remove all dirt and grease. After this, all screws were galvanized and anodized. If you need I can send you some other pics.
I am just starting to restore a 53′ CJ3B. What did you use to clean and prep the frame for painting? What type of coating did you use on the frame?
any info would be of great help.
