My son (12 at the time) and I decided to do a restoration project on our CJ-2A in 2006. We purchased it for $600. We had never restored a vehicle, and had many reservations as we began the project. The engine, drive-train, and frame were all in good order. The tub, seats, wiring, brakes, gas tank, and more had to be replaced. We did a total frame off restoration. We learned as we replaced parts and the Kaiser Willys catalog was always handy and helpful. My son is a military history buff and he decided to go with OD Green WWII paint. Six years (2012) into the project it was complete. He drove the CJ-2A two weeks before he graduated high school and were we excited! We added an all steel half cab and heater, which we utilize in the winter months. My son Oliver, who is now a 2nd LT in the USMC enjoys driving the CJ-2A when visiting home. The CJ-2A will be waiting for him when he can take it to his home. I am the lucky dad that gets to keep it for him and drive it.
