When I was 10, the Jeep was given to me. Me and my dad had a other 1946 Jeep that we was going to use for parts as well. We stripped the Jeep down to the frame and completely restored all the brakes and went through both axles still original at the time. To be honest it sat on jacks stripped to the frame for 4 years. Last winter when I was 13 going on 14, we decided to get it out of the garage and finished. We worked nonstop on it. The plan was to make it something that was used for trails but not to serious. And at first that is all it was. It wasn’t until I got into four wheeling that I started to mod it. I started to do things more on my own, and I ended up with this. The tub is off of a completely different 1946 CJ-2A and the floor is out of a 49. Motor and tranny are all still the same for now, but I wanted to do something different. First off I put a 1 3/4″ body lift on just to give room for the 31’s to flex. But then, I had a dana 53 and dana 25 out of a old Willys Truck. I decided this combination would be perfect, because they are the same 5:38 gears and I would be able to be a ton wider (almost full width). So a few weeks of making things up and ordering parts here and there I finally had the swap over to truck axles, the night before New Years Day.
My plans are to go with a 283 or some sbc motor. Eventually go 2.5 inch lift, and some 33’s.
Thanks, Drew Thurmond
