My 1946 CJ-2A is finally on the road. I’ve been working on the resto for about 16 months. New 3″ lift, terraflex shackles, 350 V8, rebuilt transmission and transfer case, 2nd gas tank, new fuel lines and brake lines, dual reservoir master cylinder, and plenty of stuff that I got from army surplus. I love this CJ.

Update July 2014. My 1946 CJ-2A is finally (consistently) on the road. I’ve been working on the restoration/ refurb since 2011, and I don’t think I will ever truly be done. New 3″ lift, terraflex shackles, 350 V8, rebuilt transmission and transfer case (adding the overdrive), dual exhaust with glass packs, 2 gas tanks cross connected under the driver and passenger seats, new fuel lines and brake lines, dual reservoir master cylinder and power brakes, new fuse panel and wiring, and plenty of stuff that I got from army surplus. I had the hardest time keeping the engine cool, and a local shop (Meyer’s Auto in Omaha Nebraska, truly awesome folks!!) moved the grill forward about 4”, stretched the fenders and hood, and added a massive radiator. My cooling issue is solved, and I think the next thing on my Christmas list is a transmission that can go highway speeds AND get kind of good gas mileage. You can tell that I painted it myself, and I have made about every possible mistake putting it together. If I win the lottery, I will start over, and hopefully not repeat any of my previous errors. I love this CJ
