This 1944 Willys MB came into combat in 1945 and was hit by german machine guns, the radiator and the oil tray were destroyed. After that it seems the MB was abandoned by the GI’s and disappeared in a barn or somewhere else. In the late 70’s a Colonel of the French Army built a small collection of WW2 vehicles. He restored this Navy Willys MB completely with original parts. Since then the body was never touched so it retained the old patina and a little dust.
I bought the Willys from his family with the promise to keep it in good condition, after the owner died. My mechanic cleaned up the inside of the engine, as the “go devil” hasn’t run in years. We changed all of the filters, and gave the MB all the technical updates needed to run as he runs today. I use the MB here at the French Riviera basically every day and I am also part of a historic WW2 Organization with a lot of US material. If you are interested have a Look on www.mvcgseca.fr.
