I purchased the Willys M170 Jeep in May of 2012 and finished semi restoring it in December of 2013. I have been using it in Parades and Displays all over the state of Arizona. I still need to do some body work and paint but, it is running and have gotten a lot of compliments on it. The Willys Jeep M170 Frontline Ambulance is longer than a M38A1. It is the same body as the Willys CJ-6 but a totally different configuration. It is 24 volts, water sealed engine and electricals, can carry a 3 litter rack. It has a bigger fuel tank and equipped with front and rear stabilizer bar.

  3. James, So sad that you got rid of one of the most rare military vehicle. They are worth some money now in fact there is one listed in phoenix craigslist for $35,000.00. I am from the Philippines and some of the parts were acquired from back home. My brother owns a Auto repair shop back home and still works on military vehicles left over from the war. That’s all we had after world war 2 are Jeeps and Dodge M37(power Wagon) and some deuce and a half. My Ambulance had been to some Big parade and military events here in Arizona, I always had an invitation even they are not military related events just to see my Jeep. Thank You for your comments and interest on those M170 Frontline Ambulance. I am currently restoring a 1952 Willys M38 that I just acquired a few months ago in California. I will also featured it in this website when I’m done with it. Regards, Jun Tolentino, Gilbert, Arizona.

  5. Wow. That’s a beauty. My M38A1 has a rebuilt engine and is presently getting a paint job. I could never sell it. When I get too feeble to drive, I will likely donate it to one of the vintage military air shows or perhaps the functional LST docked in Indiania.
