Donald Hobson

I bought this truck for $800.00 bucks,12 years ago from a guy that drove it from California to Minnesota. Upon arrival, the engine crapped a piston. He stored it in his mothers garage for the next 25 years. When I got it, it was all there. I took it home and had it all apart within a week. The restoration took me some time to do. (I was in the middle of raising 3 small children) And now I have it finished! It has a 226 motor from a 57 wagon and drive train. Timkin rear axle and a 25 front. This truck is a very early 1950, (1 of 3,600) so it looks like the 49 and earlier. Hope you enjoy the pic’s, Don

  1. I have been working on my truck for 12 years…… It’s a early 1950. All stock running gear. The 226 motor came from a 57 wagon. There is still work to be done but I’m able to drive it any where around my small town. I really enjoy the looks it brings. It’s the greatest! I plan on just driving it as much as one can. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. leave comment. Don.

  3. Hey, Don. Aarik Stahl here. Thanks for including a shot of the dashboard in your post! I’ve been looking for one, of the “early” 1950 models, as they changed mid-year. It may be the most rare type there is, since the ashtray is on top of the dash, with the wiper knob below it, and still has the large square gauge hole! I just posted a shot of our ’49 yesterday, that shows the style for that year, with the ashtray above the instrument cluster, but the knob is on top, still. Yours is very clean, and undisturbed, and also has a left side glove box, too. Again, quite rare, unless it was set up like that later. I wonder if you had to fill many holes, or had some photos to go by, when you restored it. Hope to see you on the road, someday! A.S.
