I purchased this Jeep over 25 years ago from the original owners daughter soon after he passed away, her father purchased it brand new to use on his walnut ranch where it spent it’s entire life until I entered the picture, and today it is only 15 miles away in the next town over. The jeep was 100% all there but had been sitting for about 7 years in covered canopy beside his barn, after dragging it home with a broken rear spring I began the task of installing new springs, flushing fluids, cleaning and patching the fuel tank where it was rusted with JB Weld, (the JB Weld lasted 24 years!) and converting the starting system to 12 Volt. I purchased a new carburetor, points, plugs, belts, hoses etc after a compression test showed all 4 cylinders were good to go. Believe it or not I fired this thing up in my garage with a can of WD-40 as a starting fluid until the fuel pump got primed and it then purred like a kitten. It is still all original drive train and just last year (2011) I had to replace a blown head gasket, water pump, thermostat and fuel tank, (damn JB Weld!) belts and hoses. It’s been a damn good Jeep.
