Finished this 1962 OHC Willys Pickup in time for the Billings All Original Car Show. There were close to 50 vehicles in the “light commercial truck” category. I was pretty bummed when I didn’t get 3rd or 2nd place and about fell off of my chair when they said I took 1st. The judges came up to me afterwards and were very generous with their comments. I was told that it judged in at 995 out of 1,000 points. You have to send in an application with detailed descriptions & pictures, and if your vehicle is modified, it is disqualified. If it’s original enough, they mail you back an invite with your gate location. They limit the event to 300 vehicles. There is a survivor class & a restored original class with many sub-categories. I was told that it was runner-up for best in show, but some guy had to bring a 3.5 million dollar 1929 Willys Stearns Knight (one of one). Oh well, I voted for the Stearns myself! My Dad took a 2nd place trophy with his 66 Mustang convertible. I had told my Dad that I wasn’t coming, so he got quite a surprise! Well worth it just to see the grin on his face.
