It took 5 years to do a complete frame off restoration on this 1962 Jeep Willys Pickup starting in 2010. It was in decent shape when I bought it, but almost every seal, gasket, bearing or moving part was in need of replacement. The pickup still had it’s original Super Hurricane 6-226 engine, transfer case and transmission. Every single part of the pickup has been removed, stripped, primed, painted and replaced as close to original as possible, excluding the electric wiper motor and my own designed Willys bench seat covering. The original paint colors are 1962 Willys paint choices, and were the actual factory colors on the pickup when I purchased it, Peacock Blue with Palm Beach Ivory. The paint was done with a base coat/clear coat process. It still has the original Super Hurricane 6-226 engine, transfer case and transmission to this day.
I really enjoyed bringing this pickup back to life, as it was my first and only restoration. I have entered it into many car shows and have won the 4×4 class many times. The best part about showing this pickup is meeting new people and striking up conversations about these Willys Pickups! Everybody has a memory of “back in the day!”
