This 53 Willys truck is all original. The engine has been rebuilt, brakes have been replaced, clutch has been replaced, it has been rewired with original wiring harness and still has the 6 volt system. The bed floor needs to be replaced and it will needs to be repainted…but it is coming along fine. I used brackets and a bumper from a wagon that I had and added a rear bumper. I drive it regularly around town.
Update. The drive train is all original F134, 4 cylinder still has the 6 v system. When I bought it it was in pretty good shape but I wanted to do some finishing touches. I added a rear bumper using brackets from a wagon with some tabs added to attach to the frame. The bed was rusted out so I put bedliner on the sides and a piece of polished diamond plate on the floor. I carried the diamond plate theme into the interior with diamond plate vinyl on the seats, door panels and kick panels. I also finished the head liner by glueing carpet padding on the roof and covering it with head liner fabric. I used the cardboard headliner kit to make a pattern for plywood panels
and covered them with vinyl. Gave it a really finished look. I love
driving my truck.
I have a 1950 that my Great Grandfather bought new. I have the old military tires and wheels on it now and it doesn’t ride very good. I’m thinking about putting new tires and wheels on it. What size are those wheels?
Nice truck! What color is that? The original color of my 53 wagon was the same..,but if you know the code or where you purchased it, I would like to hear from you! Thanks, Alan
That is very nice. I think your headliner and bed treatments are great, think I will attempt something similar. I have a stock 1953 as well…original setup though many new parts from Kaiser and Walck’s parts online. Love these trucks!
