In 1949, a lot of things were optional on the Jeepsters that were standard equipment on the 48s. Step plates, the T-bar on the grille, beauty bar on the front, even overdrive, were in that list of optional equipment. Yours may never have had the step plates.

In 1951 my father bought me a 1949 Jeepster pale yellow in color and it did not have the step plates on the rear fender. I was 16 years old then and dearly loved the car. I am trying to find a scale model of the Jeepster so I can display it along with my 1970 Volkswagen Bus scale model ,red body white top that I took my three sons camping here in the West Virginia Mountains. What wonderful memories I have of my Jeepster. Your Jeepster is the same color as mine and my wife claims that my Jeepster was a 1950, but I am quite certain it was a ’49 , 4 cyl motor with overdrive.
