1951 Willys Overland Pick Up – Got it a year ago and finally started tinkering with it and next thing I knew I had it apart. I had to figure out what all four gears shifts were for. I sandblasted the entire body inside and out. I painted the frame black and repainted the motor. I built a new gas tank and front and back bumpers. I made steering easier by adding power steering. This is the end result. I was told it started as a US Government truck for the Forest Service.
Whoever built my Wagon used a Saginaw box & an ol’ school Chevy pump on what appeared to be late 70s truck 350/TH350/NP205 drivetrain steering an IH Scout Dana44 w/factory disc brakes, boosted by a GM power brake/master cylinder/proportioning valve setup. It all works incredibly well together. With the new crate 383/TH350 transplanted this past summer, It has to, and does, perform flawlessly
I am working on 52 Willys 4 wheel drive. Just installed Chev 350 w/TH400 auto. & T18 transfer.
what PS unit did you use. & did you mount in original area of steering gear box before or in front of engine area. I don’t see enough room there. Any help would be great.
Also if not too much trouble you could call me. 512-538-4937 Eli.
