Young Mr. Welch…………..you have attained much more in life because of the loving memory of a beloved Jeep and your Grandpa. Try and keep this tangible Jeep no matter what. It shows compassion and fortitude on your part that will take you far in life. I am a Grandpa myself and have owned many jeeps over the years, simplicity and truly an a American car. Good luck and many happy years of pleasure driving for you.
William,
You certainly have a prize in your utility wagon. the Koenig winch must be power take off driven and a great plus. I nearly had one of these as my first Jeep but missed ti somehow. Don’t ever give it up. These are more than a keepsake. It was just about those dates that the last of the utility wagons were produced. I have a model 20 transfer case in my J-20 pickup and it has 193,000 miles on it and the backlash in the mainshaft is still within factory tolerences. Regular maintenance as change lubricants regularly gives the owner extreme longevity of your vehicle.

William,
Awesome family history with your Willys Wagon. You sound very responsible; your Grandpa would be proud.
(Also, if you haven’t found the forum already, you might want to check out http://www.oldwillysforum.com. It’s a great crowd over there. They’ve been very helpful to me in working on my 1964 Wagon (also with the 230 OHC).
Cheers!
Dan
William, I hope you are enjoying your Jeep. My first car as a junior in high school, Chico, CA was your Grandfather’s Willys…down to the color, gas can mounting and wench. It is truly the favorite of any car I have owned. I do hope it brings you years of smiles!
