This old wagon has been seriously modified – 283 Chevy V8 with mild street cam and Holley 4-Barrel Carb on Elerbrock hi-riser manifold, Powerglide Transmission, ’57 Chevy Rear End. Front suspension and steering are ’54 Corevtte. It has dual exhaust, aluminum wheels (17×7 rear – 15×7 front) and raised white letter tires. Interior includes leather seats (4) from a Honda Odysey mini-van and include 3-point seat belts. It’s a “work-in-progress” – future plans include disc brakes, power rack & pinion steering, and air conditioning … And, of course, a paint update. I’m a HUGE Clemson Tigers fan and this is to be my “game-day” ride.
Frank,
I bought it in late April this year … I chose it … not so much that I love old Willys … but … one of the previous owners had already done a lot of the “heavy lifting” … putting in the V8 engine, Chevy trans and rear end, and Corvette front suspension … and I thought the wagon body style would fit my desire for a cool game day car. I saw it as a “solid” base car for me to “tinker” with (as my wife says). I have “souped” up the base V8 with the cam and carb/manifold … dressed it up with the chrome! … I also added the seats and seat belts … new tires/wheels, mirrors. I will tackle some real work this winter with disc brakes and power rack & pinion steering.
Bill –
It’s a “PEACH!” :>) I’ll bet it really hauls with that modified 283 in it – that’s a great engine to say the least.
Did you do all the work on it? I don’t remember those over and under headlights – are they stock? It looks positively BEAUTIFUL and it must be a real joy to drive that vehicle down the street – especially on GAME DAY! Congratulations Bill and thanks for sending it along to me. I’m going to pass it on to a few others around here.
Take care!
Frank
