I had always shown a interest in this unique automobile and expressed a desire to one day own it. I purchased my Willys on April 7, 1997 from a friend that had used this vehicle for gardening, camping and hiking expeditions.
We kept the Willys in storage for seven years. Then in June, 2004 we did a complete off frame restoration and finished in June, 2005. It was totally restored to it’s original condition. Some say, “better than original”.
A lot of long hours, sweat, laughs and even some tears went into this restoration. It has a F4-134 4 cylinder flathead, 75 HP@4000 rpm, 3-sp with electric overdrive, 2830 lbs., 15 gal. gas tank, planer type independent front suspension and semi-elliptic type rear springs.
We have won several awards over the past six years and recently won the Palmetto Award in the Concours ‘d Elegance Car Show on Nov. 6, 2011. It was quite a honor to be selected out of so many exquisite automobiles from around the country and even a few from Germany, Italy and England.
Love the looks we get driving down the road.
