Thanks to you and Kaiser Willys for helping me restore my dad’s 1955 M38A1. My dad bought this jeep when I was a kid….the late 60’s…from a local fire dept. He tore it apart and fixed it up and it was a member of our family for many years. As a teenager with a driver’s license and immortality, me and my friends had MANY great adventures in the Jeep (I had to repair a LOT of stuff I broke back in the late 70’s). Dad decided to sell it about 20 years ago and I didn’t have anywhere to put it so I let it get away. I’ve been trying to get her back for the last 10 years and I finally brought it back home March 11, 2017. The fellow that bought her was one of dad’s friends from the local VFW and he had grand plans. But he just took it apart and let it sit in a shed for the past 20 years…..with gas in the tank. (He’s a Korean war vet and the markings on the jeep are from his outfit…8-552MP)
Had many things to do….everything was rusty….
I’ve rebuilt engine, trans, diffs, axles, brakes, radiator, interior, etc… Ground out some THICK bondo and found a bit of rust. Cut it out and welded in new metal. Rigged up a “red neck paint booth” in my shop and gave her a coat of semi-gloss olive drab. Now she’s ready for the July 4th parades this year!!!
Attached is a photo I took of her at a local veteran’s memorial. Thanks to your help she turned out great and will go to my son Adam and then his son Tanner.
Again, thanks to you guys for great parts, quick delivery, and awesome customer service.
