I purchased the “monument” from a 81 yr old WWII veteran, Mel Fox Sioux City, IA. He spent the entire day talking to me about how he served age 17-20 and then chose to come home after being offered his commission to become an officer. He called himself a coward for coming home from the tours in the Army, I call him a Hero. For like myself, I served 20yrs in the Iowa Army National Guard and did not have to go to combat, God blessed me with the ability to serve without going to war. This Hero, Mel Fox spoken of above, worked on this M38A1 and now I get to own a piece of history and cherish his life story as I share it with family, friends, other veterans. My girls are my cheerleaders, they keep dad going daily.
