New Replacement Water Pump – Part#: 649844
Q: My pump has 800886 stamped in it; will your pump 649844 work. It is in a 69 Kaiser DJ6 with the 134 engine.
- A: As long as you have the 4-134 engine it will work perfect.
Q: I have a engine stamped J232042B. It has double groove pulleys top and bottom. The top pulley is not out far enough to line with the bottom pulley and the water pump pulley has a larger groove on the outer side. Are the grooves not supposed to be the same? This I believe is a replacement engine being in an M-38. What do you think I need?
- A: Yes they should line up for the double belts. This water pump is for single groove civilian vehicles.
Q: I am in need of a water pump with a double pulley for a 1962 FC150, 134 overhead valve 4cyl. Please advise on price and availability.
- A: This is the proper one for you.
Q: Hi, what is the plug on the top of the pump for? To prime it?
- A: That is an outlet if you want to run a heater.
Q: My jeeps serial number is 57548 114642. How do I know for sure THE MODEL, this always troubles me when I have to buy parts. It’s supposed to be a Willys, but the front is not square like the typical Willys.
- A: Please call us toll free. We can ask you some questions and help you ID your vehicle.
Q: I have a industrial Jeep motor but my WW2 water pump seems a bit long as the impeller touches the barrel of number 1 misses out by one eighth of an inch, is the CJ-2A water pump that much shorter?
- A: They used the same water pump on all 41-71 Willys 4-134 engines in Jeeps. It may be something special because it is an industrial engine.
Q: I have a 4-134 F Head engine that just will not run cool. It seems to stabilize at 205-210 degrees, even with a 160 deg thermostat. I am taking the radiator to a shop for inspection, but my question is whether I have adequate coolant flow. I replaced the water pump already–so it is new. Is there a way to confirm that this pump is working properly? Both hoses are hot when running. Any hint at what is going on here?
- A: Sounds like a bad radiator is the best guess. I would have it inspected.
Q: I have a 1953 Willys CJ-3A with a Navy Department plate on the dashboard. It lists the serial # as 17070 and an engine serial# of 145912. The only numbers on the engine head is the firing order 1-3-4-2. Just want to make sure this would be the right water pump.
- A: Yes this will be correct for you.
Q: I am definitely ordering this pump. What I need, not seeing it in the catalog, is the bypass hose from the pump to the head. It is a 1/2″ hose with a 90 degree formed bend in it.
- A: That is a local NAPA item on the hose.
Q: I live in western Australia, I have a 1958 Willys Jeep CJ-5. Will this pump be ok? And do you ship to western Australia and how much will it cost thanks .
- A: Yes this is the correct pump for the 4-134 engine. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com your full address and what part numbers you would like and we can quote you out international shipping.
Q: I got a new water pump from you guys when removing the old one a bolt broke off. Are there new bolts available? And any suggestions on how to get the old bolt out I tried vice grips but it just chews it up more.
- A: They are standard bolts at your hardware store. Be very careful if its broken completely off inside. You don’t want to ruin your block trying to remove.
Q: Put all new cooling system in my 49 CJ-3A. It’s running really hot and not cooling. Any suggestions? I did notice after shutting it down a while the top hose is real hot. The bottom cooler if that means anything???
- A: I would check your thermostat and retainer. Then go to water pump, then check radiator.

I think the plug on the top is for the bypass hose from the head of an f- head engine to the water pump to help prevent over heating. I also drill a small hole in the thermostat for a steam by-pass, that has solved my over heating problems. i actually received that last tip from a real mechanic, I just remember stuff. thanks.
