Q: On the description of this distributor, it says that it does away with old points and moving parts of original distributors. The question that I have is do I need to do anything other than put the new distributor in the vehicle? How will it function if there are no points??
- A: This is a complete solid state distributor and uses a ignition module instead of points. It is a simple wire hook up no modification required.
Q: I have a 62 willys wagon with the L 226. I am trying to determine the make of the distributor. Delco, autolight……
- A: There should be a metal tag on the distributor. Sometimes they can be hard to see.
Q: I just received the distributor and was wondering where to hook up the 2 wires. My old distributor has 1 wire and this one has 2.

Q: Can I open my spark plug gap? It’s .030 now I think, with electronic ignition couldn’t it go to ..045?
- A: The solid state distributor doesnt use points. Your old distributor should be set to .020 if you have points.
Q: I have a ’55 willys 6-226 specialty vehicle, the electrical system is still 6 volts, do you know if anyone makes a 6 volt version? I cannot convert to 12 volts due to the other accessory conversions which will need to take place.

Q: I have a FC 170 with a 6-226 engine, 12v, alternator conversion. will this unit fit in the engine compartment?
- A: Yes this should work just fine.
Q: Will this fit a 1959 Willy’s station wagon with the 226 hurricane?
- A: Yes this is proper. All you have to use is your original adapter to the block and you are all set. They are made just like original.

- A: Yes it is the proper one for all 6-226 engines.
Q: The distributor adapter on my 56 PU 6-226 is broken where the flange attaches to the cylinder head. Do you stock these?

Q: I purchased a solid state electronic ignition distributor 12v, where do the black and blue wires go?
- A: They go to either side of the coil depending on if you have internal or external resistor in the coil. Please call us toll free. We can go over it.
Q: What is the advantage of the electronic ignition distributor system (over conventional points) and what do the two leads connect to?
- A: The two leads check to your coil / ballast resistor depending on the style you have. It will come with instructions. It does away with the ballast resistor and is solid state.
Q: What is the proper spark plug and spark plug gap using this distributor?
- A: .020 is the gap

Q: My 59 truck has a positive ground system, will this work? What happens if we change it to negative ground system?
- A: You should be a negative ground system. That is how they all are originally.
Q: Does this void the need to use a timing light? I don’t think there would be anything to adjust…right?
- A: You can always use a timing light when adjusting the engine. It is not necessary however.
Q: What brand distributor is this, when it is hooked up can you widen the gap on the spark plugs?
- A: These are Outland Automotive. Your gap setting should be .020
Q: I have the firing order for the original distributor, but don’t see anywhere on this new distributor that indicates the #1 Cylinder? It doesn’t say anything in the directions that came with it, and I don’t see an markings on the distributor cap. Help?
- A: You have to position 6 degrees advance at number 1. Make sure the rotor is in the right position to fire at top dead center on number one.
Q: Do you have the conversion kit for a Prestolite IAT 4404A distributor?
- A: This kit is for the 6-226 engine so you should be all set. We also have them for the 4-134 engine part number: 923068.
Q: I have an F6-161 Hurricane 161 cubic inch engine in a 48 willy pickup. I am looking for a 12 volt electronic ignition distributor. Any chance of finding one?
- A: Sorry nobody makes that. We have rebuilt 6-161 distributors available. Please call us toll free.
Q: What lubricant is recommended for the oiler, and how often should it be lubed?
- A: It does not need to be. It is for looks only.

Just installed the 923068 and motor would not start but realized it might be 180 out and proved the theory by reversing the plug wire firing sequence [it ran great reversed – better than ever] but this is not a permanent solution. Can you replace this distributor please?
