New Complete Steel Body Tub – Part# A12277BO-3A
Q: The only serious corrosion in my CJ-3A is where the wood inserts are. This makes sense because wood traps and holds moisture against the metal. Are the steel tubs available without the wood or can the wood be easily removed?
- A: We do have just braces available. I suppose you could remove the wood but I wouldn’t recommend it. I would just seal the bottom of the new tub and you wont have any problems.
Q: Can you tell me what kind of primer is used on the new tubs?
- A: It is manufactured using a seven-step metal preparation process, including: a 5 bath dip to totally eliminate rust, dirt and grease; a phosphate and acid rinse step to ensure corrosion resistance and proper adhesion of the primer; new primer formula and application method that is designed for smooth and even finish.
Q: Where are these tubs manufactured?
- A: They are all made by MD Juan in the Philippines.
Q: I’m confused as to what tub I need. My current tubs data plate on the passenger side firewall says 2A. The other data plate shows a serial number of 12461 indicating it’s an early 3A. The windshield is one piece (3A). I want to reuse my windshield frame, hood, and grill. Any suggestions?
- A: It really wouldn’t matter too much. They are pretty interchangeable. Please call me toll free. I can ask you a few questions and we can ID it for you.
Q: When these tubs are shipped are they unloaded at delivery location, or is the customer responsible for unloading? Do you know the approx. weight of the tub for a CJ-3A?
- A: The truck driver will unload to your business or residence no problem. The crate weighs approx 400 pounds.
Q: How much modification do these tubs require prior to bolting on? Any cutting and welding, or just drilling holes?
- A: Really just drilling holes. You just need to drill your body mounting holes and toe board holes and you are off and running. Nothing a drill motor and dremel tool can’t fix. Fit and finish. Over the transmission hole sometimes takes a little filling. They do a great job reproducing these tubs and they are MOPAR licensed.
Q: I recently purchased a CJ-3A tub. It came with two small brackets in a plastic bag wired to the tub. Where are these supposed to go?
- A: Please call us toll free. We can help you out.
Q: I recently purchased a new tub and tub mounting kit for a CJ-3A. The kit’s directions say to use the enclosed 7/8″ thick rubber spacers between frame and tub. Your catalog says to use 1/4″ spacers for a early CJ which are not included in the mounting kit but are sold separately. What should I be using?
- A: You can mount your tub a number of different ways. We usually use 1/4″ pads and shim from there.
Q: My new CJ-3A tub has 3 shallow depressions stamped into the bed area of the jeep body across the middle of the bed about halfway between the front seats and the tailgate. Each stamped depression has 2 holes drilled that appear to be threaded. It looks like they were put there so that something can be mounted there. Do you know what these are for?
- A: Please call us toll free. We can help ID the area you are talking about and tell you what it is for.
Q: How long is there free shipping on the body tub for a CJ-3A?
- A: It will be thru the end of the year for sure.
