My grandfather bought this Jeep new in 1952. He ordered it with the a PTO and Monroe lift with the intention of using it to maintain property he owned in Pennsylvania. I remember bouncing in the passenger seat while my Dad dragged a bush hog around mowing the field. It last ran in the late 70’s so I never got to drive it myself but I will be able to finally do that soon. I have not done a complete restoration as I like to see the character marks that show it’s life as a work vehicle. The hard top was purchased from Sears sometime in the mid 50’s when it became clear the original canvas top was inadequate for Pennsylvania winters.

Great old Willys, my 51 has the same battle scars like yours. That’s how I remember them, that’s how I like them. Get asked all the time, when are you going to paint it? Nope. I like every dent, scratch and scar. Keep yours the way it is. It’s perfect.
Steve,
I read your comment on the ‘3A Jeep. I had a ‘2A of my own, and I also have a PTO winch from a Jeep truck in my porch. One man has said he wants it, but I have not heard from him recently. I understand he is commuting between Mpls.-St. Paul & the Dakota oil fields. If he decides he cannot get it, it is a 200 L ramsey with some of the truck mounting hardware on it. these are $800 new,$400 used. I have put an updated draft tooth clutch &keys from the ramsey dealer here in St. Paul, side gasket and the proper oil in the gear box. Not 80W90 as so many people use. Upon inspection the bronze worm gear looked good. My E-mail is-Gussey2003@yahoo.com -telephone 651 224 7107.

Keep It Original….. I’ve restored several over the years.. I have a late 45 CJ2A.. My dad bought it for me when I was 13 years old in 1964. Yours looks to be in very good original condition . I’d like to find a PTO “winch”, I have the PTO. Please let me know if you come across one. Good luck with the restoration.

What a great treasure to keep in your family. I have a M38A1 and will give it to my grandson when I get too old to climb into it.
