My story really is not an exciting one. I have no super barn finds, nothing that’s been in the family for years. I can tell you that my Mom learned to drive on a 1946 CJ-2A when her parents were the care takers at the Statan Island Light house when she was young. I have always been a Jeep fan and have always wanted a flat fender. My love for Jeeps really started in 1986 when I purchased my first factory fresh Comanche. I had purchased my second Comanche in 1989. This one was a short bed 4×4, which till this day is my daily driver. I have had my 1946 CJ-2A coming up on seven years now and it has been a slow and steady restoration. My mid life hunk-a-junk is what my wife calls it. She will never admit she likes it, but my four children and I love to take our Sunday drives in it. The Willys came in very handy when we were hit here on the Island by Super storm Sandy. It went places and got around things our other vehicles couldn’t. Hunk-a-junk or not, with help from friends, it’s a real joy to work on and whole lotta fun to drive.

As daughter of the author, I can confirm he has definetly passed on the love for jeeps to his kids. Its always so much fun to ride around in. Whether its a quick ride up the street, or a trip to the beach. I’m always thrilled to go for the ride.
Still dreaming to have a jeep of my own. One of these days, though!!
I personally know this Jeep, as well as the family! It was a great find and I’m sure it will be in the family for a very long time. This will one day be a story of “Grandpa’s 1946 Willys CJ-2A that’s been in the family for 50 + years!” I know its at a good home. Keep up the good work!
Rumor has it your youngest brother found that “hunk-a-junka”. He was gonna buy it but moved out of state and couldn’t…..Bwahaha
It looks great! And its always a pleasure to tool around town in it when I visit. To the property with it this summer!
Nice….How did you mount the can & spare on the tailgate?
You have a nice ride. I think most of us Jeepers got the bug as children.

I LIKE YOUR YARD AS MUCH AS I LIKE YOUR JEEP. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
wow – that is not a hunk-a-junk !!!
Nice looking “Hunk of Junk!” Mine is much worse!
Very nice little hunk of junk, done just the way I like them, keep them original but don’t blow the budget on every little detail. Great work on the restore.
Enjoy it.
Looking good, enjoy
