This is my 1942 Ford GPW, Serial Number 76157, date of delivery 10/28/42, MFG Plant: Louisville, KY. It was purchased as a hunting buggy in May of 1976 as my college graduation present. I did a slow restoration to its original configuration and finished in July of 2006. My GPW and I have been in two movies, Red Rose of Normandy and USS Seaviper. We are affiliated with the Road to Victory Military Museum located is Stuart, FL. We open the yearly airshow with a WW2 battle reenactment, do numerous parades, shows and displays for various veteran and government entities throughout Florida. We support many military fundraisers throughout the year such as Honor Flight, Supplies for the Troops, Veteran organizations, etc. We have a Boy Scout Venture Crew 2804 that Reenacts the WW2 Soldier.
The links below are to the battle reenactment Stuart Airshow opening from 2012. Full Sail University, Orlando, FL student project to film our battle reenactment. My Ford GPW is in the show and comes in around 6 min day 1. I am in the M8 armored scout car turret directing the battle explosions.

Hi Diane,
The serial number could be located in several different locations depending on the model. One place is on a data plate behind the front bumper on the frame horn and also the inside engine compartment on the upper passenger side firewall. Send an email to amy@kaiserwillys.com with pictures and we can try to help you identify it. Have a great day!
I am restoring my 42 and would like to mount the gun as you have it where did you find it?
Thx
I have an old willis jeep that belong to my husband, my question is where do you find the s/n and how do you tell what year it was produced.
