This is my 1952 M38, purchased for $200. I bought the Jeep in August 1994 and it was a basket case. It had been neglected for who knows how many years sitting in a vacant lot off an alley in South Columbus, OH. I’m told it was bought from the Army by the City of Columbus and used as an insect fogger vehicle before being retired. It’s taken me 17 years of off and on work to restore to its present condition.
It was rusty and to most, would have been considered scrap metal but with a passion for Willys I saw it’s potential. Progress was slow but I never lost sight of the dream I had of the finished reconditioned Jeep. In 2011, after years of on again off again work, two deployments with the Army Reserve and surviving a garage fire the Willys was back in running condition. Since then we’ve been to car shows, parades and Jeep trails. In the future I plan to install an Overdrive and then purchase a trailer. I want to tour Yellowstone National park in the Willys one day.
What size wheels and tireS? Great looking Jeep!
No rbank, it’s really an M38, 1952 MC56029. The paint and hood sort of throw you off,. it does look like it’s cousin the CJ3A but she is all M38 down under!
It is not a 51 m-38 it is a cj3a
