312: Don Rollins’ 1955 Willys M38A1
“Jesse” is a retired Air Force M38A1. The “pink” said she was a ’55 Willys CJ-5, but the dash, and block number, and the olive drab paint under the “blue” told me she was originally an M38A1. This was an Air Force Surplus Willys retired out of Edwards AFB in the Mojave Desert in Southern California some time in the ’60’s. I purchased it to “explore” and camp in the same general area. With only 18000 miles on the drive engine and drive train, she was mechanically great, but needed a lot of TLC. Three years later, she’s been upgraded, toured the Mojave Road, and is now the vehicle towed behind my RV.
