111: Grant Wehrfritz’s 1949 Willys Jeepster
I found this car sitting in a barn for over 20 years. Bought it and it sat in my barn for 4 years before I started the restoration. It was a frame off and about 5 years later it was done. I restored it as close to 100% original as humanly possible. For example the fuel pump I found had no glass bowl and the original did, so after hunting around I finally found the one I needed. Another was the top most of the new ones are vinyl but the original was canvas, and I found a company that made it out of canvas.
I was surprised to find how easily and readily parts are available. The real shocker was the re chroming cost, but the company I found did a better than excellent job. Thanks for looking at my Jeepster.

HAVE A ’49 MYSELF, AFTER THE ’72 CUTLASS, IT’S NEXT HOPE TO DO AS NICE A JOB!
Grant–beautiful job on the jeepster! I love seeing these old cars treated with the respect they deserve. We are in the process of restoring a 1950 jeepster. We would like to know who did your rechroming as we are reeling from the shock of the price ourselves. We did just spend a lot of money on her paint job though, so want the chrome to be as beautiful. We would appreciate your information. Again–your jeepster is absolutely gorgeous–we will be thrilled if we can get our “baby” looking as good as yours!
That is absolutely a TREASURE ! I do envy you ! Well done !
Sweet!
Excellent, Well done
I wish that I could restore & rebuild this 1953 willys jeep cj3b that was given to me from my cousin, I just don’t have the money backing me up right now. Howard Keys
Nice Job Grant!… “Good Lookin Ride” to say the least. Chrome plating as you found out is very expensive now day’s mostly due to EPA regulations, but you be glad you bit the bullet and brought her back to pristine condition. Again great job!
