299: Derrill Wolkins’ 1950 Willys CJ-3A
We purchased our 1950 CJ-3A named “Elvis” in 1983 for $500 as a father-son restoration project and it has now been handed down to my boys. It is completely stock except for seatbelts and a roll cage. We are very active in a Jeep club and enjoy 4-wheeling all over beautiful Arizona. We often push our Jeep to the limits on rugged trails and have no problem keeping up with modern Jeeps. This photo was taken on a trip to the Sunflower Mine located between Phoenix and Payson.

Great the Willys. I have two
Congratulations
I love the CJ-3B ! I had a 1953 model and wish I still had it. It was pruely unstoppable. I’m 82 years old, but if I could find a good restored 3B I’d buy it in a minute
Beautiful flat fender. I am eebuilding a 46 cj2a and tires are my next major purchase. What tires do you have on there? I am looking for a set just like that, but in radials, which seems pretty hard to do. Those fit stock rims and is there any Denver rub?
Darrill,
You should bring that beauty to Colorado.

Beautiful job on the resto. Top shelf!
Looks like excellent gold prospecting country!

Very nice photos. Nice to see what these little Jeeps can do. Our CJ 3-A keeps up with the latest TJ’s. Never falters.
Darrill,
You’re very fortunate to have both a Jeepin’ Jeep & a looking at Jeep. The older vehicles are much lighter, and the gearing much better for off roading. I know as I had a V-6 CJ-2a of my own. Keep it safe, mine made others jealous of it’s abilities. I chained the steering wheel down to the pedals when I was no there and I would come out to it and find the soft top door hanging open and no one around. Thye took one look at the high security chain & padlock and just left!
