233: Markel Simmons’ 1971 CJ-5
I found this Jeep in original condition including seat covers (what’s left of them), paint and generator charging system, but with a locked engine. After removing the head and soaking the pistons with Mystery oil, I began the process of gently rocking the Jeep in gear each day for a little bit until after about four days it broke loose. After reassembling the engine with new gaskets and rewiring the distributor, it fired right up. We like the patina and plan to drive it as is.

It’s perfect, don’t change a thing. Maintain it and drive the wheels off it.
That’s what I like! Functional! Plus clean under the hood! My jeeps are not show winners and it’s great to see someone else with a vehicle in it’s everyday clothes! Don’t change a thing and thanks for letting everyone see your ongoing project!
