171: Gordy Santeford’s 1956 Willys Truck
It took me a year to get it where it is today. Working on it daily as my retirement project. Body off frame, rebuilt transmission, transfer case. Body was completely stripped of paint, dents, rust and wear. There was no interior from head to toe. Seats are now full leather bench seat. Put in a 250 inline 6 chevy motor. Runs and drives like a new 56 Willys. It is my daily driver! I love my Willys. Found in New Mexico on a farm. It had never been licensed and never been road driven. Used only as a farm truck!

Nice truck and great color. Saying it hadn’t ever been registered and I’m assuming that the truck lives in the high desert of California did you have any problems with the DMV? I have a 67 CJ 5 and it wasn’t registered since 83. When I went to the DMV I had to jump through hoops to get it legal. Just wondering?
Gordy Beautiful Truck, I have a ’57 which I have just started and some day I hope to have it look as nice. I started the tear down a week ago and just finished new brakes and lines. I have the bed removed and now doing repairs to the frame and rails and overall support structure- I got the truck from original owner and it sat for 8 years out side. Has minor surface rust on the cab and I will need to replace the rockers- The bed is where I have the most work to do other than that a few dings and scratches and in a year I should have it looking almost as good as yours – Thanks for sharing and congratulations!
Thanks- Scott
Great truck Gordy. I have one that’s not as nice as that and I love it.
Now if we could only get Kaiser Willys to stock the step plates that go between the cab and box fender we’d both be better off.
Beautiful pickup…………………….
