068: Josh Lutter’s 1948 CJ-2A Jeep
This is a 1948 CJ-2A, but it doesn’t have any Willys stampings and the windshield matches the M38. We are assuming it is an aftermarket body, since there are no body tags any longer. Anyways, it used to be blue with black wheels. Had a local shop do a repaint and a paint matched spray-in bedliner. I had my aunt sew up the seats and some tailgate chain sleeves.
It has the L134 Go-Devil. We rebuilt it when we first got it, and the #4 piston/wrist pin was frozen. New piston and a hone and it was good to go, but after the rebuild it spun a rod bearing. (New ones were used, not sure what happened). Anyways, the engine pics are after the second rebuild which also included a fresh coat of paint, and the oil canister restoration. The engine is now in, fires right up, and is awaiting some carb tuning.

Thanks for the comments! There are always things that need to be fixed here and there…lol
@ George….The first sentence states its a M38 frame. CJ3A’s had a easy open vent below the windshield. Mine is bolted down.
I hope my ’46 CJ2a will look as good as yours! Definitely a real nice job. You should be proud !!
Fine lookin Willie ?? One major problem — CJ-2As do NOT have one piece windshield — appears that whole assembly prolly is CJ-3A .
now thats the way a jeep should look, cuz thats my favorite colors, and thats the plans for my 55 M38-a1
Love the YELLOW paint and looks like your Aunt has used a sewing machie a timeor two before.
The color matched sprayed in bedliner is really neat too. Really cool Jeep. <
